Very interesting and informative take on the importance of Taos and New Mexico to American art and culture. Just a correction Robert Henri is not pronounced as if French but as "Hen Rye" -- he was from Nebraska. From art historian who has taught American art for 35 years.

Interesting 🤔 and engaging conversation and expose' in real time. The clash of cross road cultures, colonial west colonization, modern medical treatment, native herbal medicinal health, indigenous art and history is very telling. As I've recently returned from my second only Taos Pueblo visit and stay in the area this video is definitely giving me food for thought. I😢m sad for the families whose pieces of pottery, painting and jewelry were appropriated. The love for the land and it's scapes O'keefe expressed thru her artistic expression I relate to in their physical forms. My overiding impressions are of an uplifting spiritual journey experienced within and without my being. The land is truly intriguing and enchanted giving visitors an opportunity to absorb it's magical effects. I am grateful for the welcoming recieved from many sources, at the same time understanding where it may not be the same reaction by all residents. A future with reperations to all villages, tribal members and their ancestors seems more than appropriate for a partial remedy. I believe we all in the human consciousness collective do what we know, until we know better and can do better when we are also able and willing to do so. Peace 🕊️ ♾️☮️🛐☯️💟

Maybe there is a book published about the following, but I have not found it: There are parallels between Georgia O'Keeffe and Frank Lloyd Wright. Both were born in rural Wisconsin and were affected by nature, both were revolutionaries whose personal life created controversy, both fell in love with the American Southwest and the desert life, and their art lives far after their passing.

Family dynamics can be so tough. I truly love Ida's art, and I would LOVE to see the other's art as well, sometime. Maybe it was some deep seated insecurities or fears that crept up in Georgia? Who knows. I related So much to so many traits of Georgia's before...but man if I don't love my sister as much as I love any human on this planet! In fact, we both do art and love it so much, but TRULY encourage one another in it. It hurts me some, that they lived and died having not encouraged each other in the arts to their fullest extent. I may be naive of something, true. Regardless, I am super thankful for getting to see what was able to be made and what survived. Would love to see the original lighthouse also, hope it is found one day. Thank you, Paula

I wonder how the two of them would have worked together, Ansel doing b/w while Eliot doing color????

I can’t wait hopefully within the next 3 to 4 years and the first place I’m going is her museum she is such a inspiration for me. I love New Mexico. I love all of her paintings are just so passionately, beautiful no words to describe my heart and I just filled with emotion everything I see that she’s done.

The Arnold Newman portrait is interesting in how he makes Stieglitz primary and O'keeffe secondary. It would be telling to know if he placed them in this dynamic or if it was of their choosing, since the placement could be interpreted as misogyny.

That view from her bedroom let her create several paintings. I do agree with you. Those shells are special. She used to collect them while being close to the lake. The Clouds were another great motif of her. Some blues are more accentuated, in others there is a light pink with white.

Beautiful works. Subtle, japanese inspiration, abstract paintings as white rose; isolation of the main subject. Stieglitz made beautiful pictures of Georgia. The museum and display of the paintings is exquisite. Abstraction and minimalist.
